two year natural hair journey
Check out Thirsty Roots member Mac's 2 year natural hair journey and interview. Mac says she has been frustrated at times, merely now in her words: "I've learned to embrace it, accepting my hair for what information technology is. I have been blessed by the journey." Just like Mac has learned, we must realize that our individual textures are unique and there is beauty in each and every 1 of them.
TR: How long have you been natural and why exercise you lot choose to be natural?
MAC: I've been natural since June of 2010. I chose to become natural because I was tired of relaxing my hair and not seeing whatever real quality (length, strength, etc.) with my hair.
TR: Did y'all transition or did the large chop?
MAC: I chose the big chop in July of 2011.
TR: What were the responses from your family and friends?
MAC: The response with my family unit and friends was first complete shock because I chose to cut the majority of my pilus off however each person was very supportive and embraced my pick. They even help me with styling my hair since I cannot braid or twist.
TR: What is your current hair care regimen?
MAC: I wash and status my hair 1 a week shampooing with Raw African Black Soap (purchased from Amazon.com) followed by a conditioner (Shea Moisture Organic Shea Butter Restoration Conditioner). I moisturize with water everyday plus using one of the 3 (depending on how I feel) Shea Moisture Organic Raw Shea Butter Reconstructive Elixir Spray, Tresemme Flawless Curls Lotion Crème or Raw Shea Butter
TR: What are your must-have products?
MAC: My must-have products are Eco Styler Moroccan Argan Oil Styling Gel and Shea Moisture Organic Roll Enhancing Smoothie. I oasis't had a chance to actually experiment with other products.
TR: What are your favorite accessories?
MAC: Banana Hair Clips, headbands, Scuni No Slip Grip Evolution Ponytail Holders and Scuni No Sideslip Grip Evolution Gel Headbands.
TR: What exercise you like the most about existence natural?
MAC: The thickness and versatility of hairstyles I can create/copy from other natural ladies.
TR: Anything else you may want to add together?
MAC: My choice in becoming natural has really been a long but positive feel. I've had days were I wanted to shave my hair off due to frustration of not achieving a certain wait I've see or wanted but its taught me is my pilus not similar many and I've learned to embrace it, accepting my hair for what it is. I take been blest by the journey.
